New Breezes, Blowing in Wide-ranging Art Genres
Featuring 11 selected art groups
About the “Group Show”
The “Group Show of Contemporary Artists” exhibition series was launched on the occasion of Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum’s grand reopening. A public appeal is made for groups to hold exhibitions, and group exhibitions selected by an examination board are held in a gallery.
Presenting wide-ranging new art endeavors: This year’s exhibition, the first in the series, will consist of exhibitions by 11 groups selected through a process of public application and judging in 2011. Works of diverse genres will be displayed, include painting, hanga (print), calligraphy, kogei (craft) film, and installations. Visitors can look forward to an exhibition of unique character, featuring a variety of new works by artists pursuing new art directions.
